COACHELLA, CA — A tragic wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 near Dillon Road Tuesday night left three people dead, according to authorities.
The crash happened just before 10:00 p.m. when a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway collided head-on with another car in the eastbound lanes.
Three Killed at Scene
All three individuals involved in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene. The collision involved two vehicles, including one carrying two الأشخاص.
Authorities say the wrong-way driver was a 71-year-old man from Orange, California. The second vehicle was occupied by a 50-year-old woman from Phoenix, Arizona, along with a passenger. Both occupants of that vehicle were also killed.
Cause Still Unknown
Investigators are still working to determine how the driver entered the freeway going the wrong direction. At this time, officials have not indicated that drugs or alcohol played a role.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
